The Soil Audit™
One of the crucial parts of The Precision Management Process™ is the Soil Audit™. If variable rate correction of nutrients is a management goal, it's important to analyze the variation of soil attributes in order to make this decision.
AGRI-TREND Agri-Coaches™ will conduct a Soil Audit™ on precision managed fields in either a zone or a sector approach. Both approaches are spatially analyzing the nutrient distribution patterns across the field. The nutrients and soil attributes analyzed for can be looked at individually, collectively, or analyzed with other layers of spatial data such as agri-images or data collected through geo-support.
Taking either a zone or a sector approach can vary from field to field and farmer to farmer. The approach is dependant upon the goals of the farm client, the spatial data archive available and field history. Equipment capabilities and previous fertility management also play a role in deciding the approach to take. The Precision Management Process™ is flexible and customizable to work with either approach.
"We learned in the 80's that a sound understanding of soil attributes is critical to making GIS work for farmers."
