Chris grew up on a family farm in Central Alberta and continues to make this area of the province his home. He graduated from the University of Alberta in 1996 with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture degree.

After university, Chris worked for United Grain Growers in Calmar AB looking after the crop inputs department. He then moved on to working with Agri-Trend Agrology for several years where he was involved in the early development of the Strategic Crop Plan and Agri-Coach Program as well as providing consulting services for growers and helping other Agri-Coaches. Chris also conducted extensive research on emerging technologies.

Chris has spent time travelling. He lived in Costa Rica for two years where he worked with growers and corporations on a wide variety of fruit and vegetable crops. Following that he spent a year in Australia; part of the time working for Bayer CropScience in production of parent seed for Canadian canola seed production.
Chris has also travelled extensively throughout Central and South American as well as New Zealand.

Chris is looking forward to putting his experience and knowledge to good use with his clients within the Central Alberta region
